There’s a rather significant difference between the Honda Civic and Toyota Camry in terms of engine output. The Camry comes equipped with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that boasts 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can also choose an available 301-horsepower 3.5L V6 engine.
The Civic comes standard with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that can generate 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. Drivers also have the option of choosing a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, but this only propels the output to 174 horsepower.
Another major difference is that the Camry offers its drivers a hybrid option. The available hybrid 2.5L 4-cylinder works with the electric motor to boast 208 combined net horsepower. The Civic doesn’t offer its drivers a hybrid option.
The 2021 Camry and the Civic offer plenty of fun and sophisticated features within their respective cabins. The Toyota Camry features a 7-inch touchscreen display, while the Honda Civic includes a 5-inch LCD display. Both screens give drivers access to their media options, like a USB/auxiliary-connected media device, a Bluetooth®-paired smartphone, or AM/FM radio.
The Toyota Camry, however, comes standard with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ that will sync your phone to the touchscreen for direct access to your apps, contacts, texts, and more from the road. The Civic offers these features but only after an upgrade. The Camry also keeps you connected to home with Amazon Alexa compatibility.
The Honda Civic and the Toyota Camry both come equipped with driver-assisting technology systems. The Camry features Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5, while the Civic includes Honda Sensing®. Both systems incorporate exterior-mounted sensors that measure the speed of their respective vehicles and their distance from objects ahead.
Each vehicle includes pre-collision systems, lane-keeping systems, and even cruise control systems that can actually adapt to the flow of traffic without driver intervention. However, the Camry’s Lane Departure Alert features Steering Assist that, in cooperation with the braking system, will slowly turn automatically to guide the vehicle back into its intended lane.
