The Toyota Camry offers two engines, each of which has different performance specs and MPG numbers.
Both engines include selectable drive modes that further optimize your performance or efficiency. These modes are Normal, ECO, and Sport.

If you need a bit of a boost, you can drive in Sport Mode and enjoy improved acceleration and steering responsiveness. However, if you need to conserve fuel, you can switch into ECO Mode that will adjust your throttle input and acceleration to improve your MPG capabilities.
For Camry lovers who really want to improve their fuel economy while decreasing carbon emissions, there’s also a hybrid version that pushes your MPG to an EPA-estimated 51 city/53 highway MPG.*
Don’t be fooled by its impressive fuel economy, the Toyota Camry Hybrid is also incredibly powerful. In fact, this model pairs a 2.5L Dynamic Force I-4 engine with an electric motor to create a combined power output of 208 horsepower.
One of the ways it’s able to achieve such a high fuel economy is by utilizing an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT).
The ECVT does away with the gears found in a traditional automatic transmission. Instead, it improves overall performance and efficiency by providing nearly infinite shift points between the upper and lower limits.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid also gives you a selectable drive mode feature, but it adds an additional option: EV Mode.
While ECO Mode will help improve your hybrid fuel economy, EV Mode switches your sedan into full electric mode. This allows your Camry to drive for up to one-half mile without dipping into the gas tank.
Of course, if you’re feeling adventurous, you’ll have the option to switch the Camry Hybrid to Sport Mode as well.
